Design 101

While browsing the design section of Barnes & Noble today, I stumbled upon this great book called Decorate by Holly Becker and and Joanna Copestick. This guide is filled with tons of design tips, ideas, and solutions, as well as hundreds of pictures (which is the best part!). I especially love the modern decor featured throughout the book - perfect for my own design inspiration.

Pretty Paper

In an era of text messages and email, it can be so refreshing to receive a handwritten letter in the mail. There's this great little store in L.A. called sugar paper that sells high quality stationary and custom designs. Even if I leave empty handed, it's still fun just to browse their cards, stationary, and gifts. Luckily, you can purchase their products online, if you're not in the area. Here are some of my favorites:

Are you Ready?

For me, it's a struggle to wear makeup. Not because I don't like it, but because I have sensitive skin around my eyes, so it's tough to find brands that are non-irritating. I've been limited to wearing brands such as bareMinerals. Unfortunately, their loose powder eyeshadows are a bit messy, and hard to clean up. Lucky for me, they recently came out with READY eyeshadows that are in solid form.

Excited to try it out, I bought their limited edition Cocktail Hour eight color set. I tend to lean towards cool toned shadows, so this was perfect for me.

So far, I've tried on four out of the eight colors. These eyeshadows are very saturated. Their color stays true when applied to the eyes. The darker colors really do come out just as dark - they don't apply sheer like some other brands. I especially love the purple colors, which go well with my brown eyes. And the color stays put all day (bonus!)

The verdict: Would I recommend these? I'd say yes. I like that these shadows are paraben, binder, and filler free, and contain their signature minerals. If you like their loose powders, then you're sure to enjoy these new solids. The only con is the price. I think that $40 is a bit steep, but they also sell less expensive 2-color and 4-color sets.

Have you tried their new shadows yet? What do you think?

All About Boots

It's finally jacket and boot season here in Los Angeles. Although I love the summer sun, it's so much fun to wear layers. One of my favorite fall items are boots - they're perfect for dressing up an otherwise simple outfit. There are so many styles too, so you can never go wrong. Here are some boots I'm loving this season:

Spanish Getaway

Being half Spanish, I've been lucky enough to visit Spain many times throughout my life. However, I haven't been there in a couple of years - which is making me miss the food and culture. Everything feels so different there compared to Los Angeles, which can be very refreshing. Here are some photos of my favorite things in Spain:
