Southern Comfort

My friend told me about Paula Deen's recipe for "Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes." Pumpkin and butter in the same sentence? Sure, sounds good to me! Of course, this recipe has a ton of butter in it, but hey...you usually don't cook dessert with health in mind. I'm going to try out this recipe soon for the holidays. How delicious does this cake look?

Design Duo

I recently watched the show Home by Novogratz for the first time on HGTV. The show follows design couple Robert and Cortney Novogratz around New York as they design spaces for their clientele. I'm loving their quirky, colorful designs. Now I just need to get on their show...apartment makeover please!

They have a book titled Downtown Chic, which you can buy here. I need to get my hands on this - I see design inspiration in the future...

Museum Madness

The Tim Burton exhibit has been at the LACMA in L.A. since May. I've been meaning to go but I never got around to it. I just realized that next weekend is closing weekend - now I really need to go before it's too late! How amazing does this exhibit look?!

Shoe Hunt

The past couple of weeks, I've been on a mission to find the perfect pair of flats. After losing hope, I decided to make one last stop to a mall in Redondo Beach. Luckily, I found these adorable flats from Steve Madden. I'm usually not one to buy things with lots of rhinestones on them, but these shoes were too cute to pass up. They're perfect for dressing up, or going casual.

What shoes are you most looking forward to buying for the Fall?

Rent the Runway

I'm loving the concept behind Rent The Runway. It's an online company that lets you rent a designer dress for a fraction of the retail price. Plus, they send you two sizes for the perfect fit. I haven't rented a dress yet (still waiting for the perfect event), but until then, I'll drool over my favorite dresses...

Pumpkin Fun

I can't believe Halloween is only a couple of weeks away. I remember carving pumpkins every year with my family, using those flimsy little carvers that you can buy at the supermarket. There are so many cute and creative ideas for decorating pumpkins - without even having to carve. Here are some adorable ideas to try out for the holidays:

Cozy Days

I've been sick with a cold the past few days, which is never fun. But it's also a good excuse to curl up with a good blanket and stay warm. With the weather getting cooler, what's better than hot cocoa, an inviting bed and comfy clothes?

Havana Nights

This past Friday, I went to a lounge called La Descarga for the very first time. This has instantly become one of my favorite places! Tucked in an old building in Koreatown (near Hollywood), La Descarga looks and feels like an old-fashioned speakeasy in Cuba. You literally enter the club through a wardrobe filled with clothes, which leads to a spiral staircase. There, you're taken to the main room - I loved the tall ceilings and intimate lighting.

A large percentage of people were wearing authentic clothing of the times, including vests, suits, and fedoras. Men and women were dancing away to the Cuban music (some were actually pretty good). A live band even came out, accompanied by a burlesque number.

If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend going!
