The Ideal Home

If I had the chance to decorate the "perfect" home, it would consist of clean, modern lines mixed with quirky, playful accent pieces and splashes of color. Your home should be the one place you love coming to at the end of the day. I love finding photos of homes I find inspiring, and taking mental notes of how designers arrange furniture and add unique touches to every room.

The Perfect Table Setting

I am a sucker for beautiful table settings. It's always what I remember most about parties. There are so many themes and variations to choose from, which is the fun part. Even if you're throwing a small get together at your house or apartment, a well thought-out table setting can transform the mood and make your event memorable. With the holidays right around the corner, it's the perfect excuse to throw a party of my own. Luckily, the seasons hardly change in L.A. - it's still possible to spend time outdoors!

Falling for Fall

I can't believe fall is here in just two days. The weather is starting to cool, so it's time to pull out the boots and sweaters. Although I love summer, there's something magical about the transition to fall. And of course...it gives me an excuse to indulge in all things pumpkin. Here are some seasonal favorites I'm looking forward to:

Design On A Budget

A little while back, I blogged about Jonathan Adler and his retro chic home decor and furniture. As much as I love his collections, it's very expensive, and let's face it - most of us can't afford dropping hundreds if not thousands on these kind of things. After doing some research, I was able to find similar pieces for much less. It just goes to show that with a little work, you can get the same look for a fraction of the price.

Here are some similar items I found:

And there you have it! It's always possible to recreate a look for less.

Finishing Touches

I have to admit, I have more fun shopping for handbags and accessories than clothes. They can add so much character to an outfit - all it takes is a necklace or scarf to completely transform a look. With the weather starting to cool down, now is the perfect time to spice up your wardrobe. Here are some pieces I've been eyeing lately:

Tacky Travels

My family and I used to take road trips up to San Francisco, with the occasional stop in San Luis Obispo. SLO is home to one of the craziest hotels out there - Madonna Inn. It's definitely a sight to see: kitsch oozes out of every wall and window. Each room has its own crazy theme, like the caveman room and fleur de lis room. Their restaurant is decked out in all shades of pink, with a giant tree sitting in the middle. I've only had dinner here, but I'd love to stay in one of the rooms, if only for the experience!

Shoe Talk

Shoes can either make or break an outfit. With fall fast approaching, I'm looking forward to adding new pairs to my collection. For me, it's important to buy key pieces that can go with a multitude of outfits. But of course, it's always fun to buy a flashy pair for going out on the weekends. Here are some shoes I'm loving right now:

Venice

One of my favorite places in Los Angeles is Venice. There's something so unique and vibrant about the city. Over the last decade, Venice has experienced a lot of gentrification, and has become a popular area for dining, shopping, and socializing. You can literally spend the entire afternoon on just one street, like Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Here are some photos that I feel really capture the essence of Venice:

Sugar Rush

I've always had a sweet tooth - whether it's a simple piece of chocolate after dinner, or a trip to Yogurtland during my lunch break at work. I love finding new recipes to try out, although I don't bake nearly as much as I'd like to. There's something so rewarding about making a delicious dessert, even if it's just a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Here are some recipes I'm dying to try out - just looking at them is making me hungry!
